Countdown in Viareggio for the arrival of Robotics Festival. The event which aims to disseminate the most recent discoveries in the field of technological innovation and anticipate those of tomorrow, in fact, will be the protagonist in Piazza Palombari dell’Artiglio hosted within the Village of the Viareggio-Bastia-Viareggio Regattaon the days of Wednesday 26 June and Thursday 27 June with a program full of meetings, talk shows, interactivity, scientific challenges, results and applications in the field of robotics and artificial intelligence.

“Having the Robotics Festival in Viareggio – declares the councilor for Tourism and Productive Activities of the Municipality of Viareggio, Alessandro Meciani – is a privilege for which we have worked hard. Having it inside the Viareggio Bastia Viareggio is an added value both for the event itself which is enriched with specific contents and for the nautical sector which feeds on technology. I thank all the organizers, the Nautical Club for their hospitality and I invite you to follow the event which will bring the excellence of robotics to the city: enthusiasts of sailing, beauty and the future”.

And in the headquarters of the most important Nautical District in Italy with 781 nautical companies, seven thousand employees and a turnover of 3.5 billion, the main focus will be on marine robotics and, in particular, on recreational robotics. It will be an opportunity for the world of research, especially university research, and that of companies in the nautical sector, but also sailing sports, to meet.

“Innovation, seen through robotics and artificial intelligence, sustainability and highly professionalizing training will be the central themes of the event – underlines the scientific director of the Festival, Professor Mauro Ferrari, who is also president of the Tech-Care Foundation –. Our goal is to involve ever greater layers of citizens, giving the floor to internationally renowned experts, who will be able to make themselves understood in a language understandable to all and will interact with professionals on the construction sites and on the regatta boats”.

“We are very proud to host at our association, a symbolic place of nautical excellence and passion and respect for the sea, two days dedicated to themes of such extraordinary relevance and importance as Marine Robotics which, at the crossroads between advanced technology and marine studies, is revolutionizing the way in which we interact with the marine environment, offering new solutions for research, conservation and navigation – he said in his introductory greeting from the vice president of the Versilia Nautical Club Admiral Chief Inspector (CP) Marco Brusco – . Heartfelt thanks go not only to those present at this presentation conference but to all those who will participate in the two days of work, to all those who made this event possible and to the illustrious guests and expert speakers in the sector who will be able to catalyze the interest of participants. Among them, special thanks to two friends of the Club Nautico Versilia (and my personal ones): the journalist of La Nazione Tommaso Strambi and Nanni Lombardi who had already been a speaker at one of our conferences proposed as part of the initiatives aimed at young people, with the desire to bring an increasingly wider audience closer to sailing. Your presence demonstrates your interest and commitment towards technological innovation and environmental sustainability. Club Nautico Versilia is excited to share with you the latest innovations, projects and practical applications of marine robotics. I trust that this workshop will be an opportunity to stimulate fruitful discussions, exchange ideas and create new synergies and also to open our Club to an increasingly larger audience. Thank you for being here with us today and above all continue to follow the initiatives that the CNV organizes throughout the year”.

The Robotics Festival is organized by the Tech Care Foundation, with the support of the Tuscany Regional Council, the Tuscan Regional Council, the University of Pisa, the Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna, the Scuola Normale Superiore, the National Research Council, the Pisa Foundation and the Arpa Foundation, sees as promoters and protagonists the Municipality of Viareggio, the Navigo Consortium and the Azimut-Benetti Group which is the main sponsor of the event, kindly hosted thanks to the availability of the Nautical Club inside the Viareggio Regatta Village. Bastia-Viareggio.

Over the two days, as mentioned, university professors, managers and teachers from highly professional training schools will alternate. The Festival will open on Wednesday 26 June at 4pm with a talk show featuring Roberto Saletti, Giovanni Lombardi, professors from the University of Pisa, Cesare Stefanini, director of the BioRobotics Institute of the Sant’Anna School of Pisa and Iacopo Senarega, R&D Project Manager of the Azimut-Benetti Group, who declares: “It is a pleasure for us to participate in the Viareggio Nautical Robotics Festival, an event that represents an important stimulus for the entire sector. For years, the Azimut|Benetti Group has been committed to constant innovation in the production of pleasure vessels, with particular attention to reducing CO2 emissions and on-board energy consumption. This commitment is supported by important investments in research, which today allow us to both develop and integrate cutting-edge solutions into our yachts. From communication and monitoring systems to on-board automation and materials, the innovations we develop allow us to offer our owners a product that meets current needs and anticipates future trends and technologies.”

While on Thursday 27 June, starting from 10am, there will be two sessions scheduled: the first, in which Sergio Saponara, professor of the University of Pisa, Manuel Catalano, researcher of the University of Pisa and the Italian Institute of Technology of Genoa, will take part. , Marco Fontana, teacher at the Sant’Anna School of Pisa and Iacopo Senarega the session also includes remote connections from shipyards that apply innovations in the nautical sector.

“Technology is one of the key drivers of the new young customer of today and certainly of tomorrow. Sailing can be a unique context for the experimental application of robotics both on board, even during regattas, and on the construction site, which demonstrates that competition, excellence and the future also pass through technology” – comments Pietro Angelini, director of NAVIGO and session moderator.

The second session will feature Federico Niccolini and Sara Scipioni, professors of the University of Pisa, Cesare Stefanini, Lorenzo Pollicardo, general secretary of SYBAss and Vincenzo Poerio, president of the ISYL Foundation. Sessions moderated by professors Paolo Ferragina and Cesare Stefanini of the Sant’Anna School of Advanced Studies in Pisa.
