Three questions to… Daniela Placci

The Asti Teatro 46 and Asti Jazz festival has come to life and on Tuesday 25th at 10pm at Michelerio we will be offered one of the most anticipated shows, in homage to a timeless diva like Milva. The absolute protagonist will be Daniela Placci, born in 1983, a multifaceted artist, from Faenza in Romagna, but from Asti by adoption, who for years has been involved in prose theatre, musical theatre, swing music, jazz and pop.

“Rosso Milva” will be a show halfway between music and recital, inspired by the life of the famous singer and actress but not a tribute to her figure.

These are the protagonist’s impressions before going on stage.

When did the spark for music strike?

“Honestly, no spark struck, I always did what I liked, my family never hindered me, I started dancing, playing the violin, I liked it a lot. My grandfather was an actor in the 1950s but I never met him, no one else in the family is an artist. Since I was a child I took everything very seriously, applying myself with great sacrifice: I started doing some singing competitions, I attended musical school and then, like a bolt from the blue, acting linked to the musical path also arrived, so I the circle closed.”

Who were your role models?

“As a child I was a big fan of the Doors, who fused music and poetry; other models were Julie Andrews and Liza Minnelli, extraordinary figures at the crossroads of cinema, theater and music. And then I have always been a big fan of Milva for various reasons: I love both Milva the actress and Milva the singer. Her theatrical commitment with Giorgio Strehler was a great inspiration for me.”

Tell us about the show “Rosso Milva”.

“I would like the show, which I have already proposed in Moncalvo in the winter season, to be a tribute, not a tribute or an imitation. I wrote the acting part by hearing and re-listening to her interviews, the musical part is by the great Milva which I absolutely don’t want to imitate. I’ll try to give my interpretation. There is a lot of Daniela Placci in “Rosso Milva”. An immediate, almost spontaneous feeling was born between Milva and me: both with red hair, she from Emilia and I from Romagna, even though I have been from Asti for years. When I met the two musicians who will accompany me on stage, Mauro Issetti and Egidio Perduca, I was staging a show dedicated to another great queen of Italian music: Mina. They proposed that I broaden my horizons, go further and try my hand at Milva too. I was immediately enthusiastic about the idea and accepted without any doubts. The music for the acted part is unpublished pieces written by Mauro and Egidio who took care of all the arrangements of Milva’s songs”.
