The Fratelli d’Italia city councilors do not mince words when revealing an alleged political alliance between the Democratic Party, in opposition, and Forza Italia, aimed at bringing down the administration led by Cosimo Cannito. Gigi Antonucci, Gennaro Cefola, Stella Mele and Riccardo Memeo point the finger at what they define as «human and political hatred of the “Lanottiana”-driven PD», referring to the president of the city council and provincial coordinator of the Azzurri, Marcello Lanotte.
The ticking time bomb
The one triggered in the last meetings of the City Council and which was destined to explode, between the lack of a quorum and postponements. The latest episode dates back to recent days with the accusations by the group leader and the secretary of FI, Antonio Comitangelo and Giovanni Ceto, against those who, according to them, had left the room «obviously irritated – reports a note – because a provision was approved which also provided for reimbursements for the travel of councillors, despite the fact that they are handsomely paid over 4 thousand euros per month”. But the exponents of the Brothers of Italy are not on board and go on the attack, denouncing the “populist lies” of the Democratic Party.
The Dems’ response
The PD councilors send the accusations back to the sender. «The center-right Barletta has been characterized by contentiousness and inconclusiveness for two years», say the group leader Rosa Cascella and the councilors Lisia Dipaola, Giuseppe Paolillo, Santa Scommegna, Adelaide and Massimo Spinazzola. «Rather than shouting in an aggressive and fascist manner – they add – stirring up conspiracy theories which would see the bad guys of the opposition hunting for the scalp of the martyred mayor and his followers, the centre-right councilors would do well to concentrate on the good of the city by perhaps starting to take your hands out of citizens’ pockets.”
