PESCARA – The last act of the Rigopiano tragedy and its 29 deaths left under the rubble of the hotel swept away by an avalanche on 18 January 2017, is now in the hands of the judges of the Court of Cassation, three days ahead of schedule until the deadline of June 24th. Yesterday the attorney general of L’Aquila filed his appeal, as did the defenders of the defendants convicted in the second instance in L’Aquila, who are three more than those who emerged from the abbreviated trial celebrated in Pescara before the preliminary hearing judge Gianluca Sarandrea . The judges of second instance had added to the already convicted Ilario Lacchetta (mayor of Farindola), Paolo D’Incecco and Mauro Di Blasio (manager and official of the Province at the time of the events, who were inflicted 3 years and 4 months each), also the municipal technician of Farindola Enrico Colangeli (sentenced to the same sentence as Lacchetta of 2 years and 8 months), but above all the former prefect Francesco Provolo (acquitted in the first instance and sentenced on appeal to one year and eight months for forgery) and the his chief of staff Leonardo Bianco (sentenced for the same crimes as the prefect to one year and 4 months).
