School has just finished, but the Emilia-Romagna Region will guarantee the right to study for all girls and boys who live in the Apennines and study in multi-class schools also for the year that will begin in September. In fact, the Regional Council has allocated to the Municipalities – individually or in partnership, which undertake to carry out innovative projects for multi-class primary schools for the 2024-2025 school year – a total investment of approximately 800 thousand euros to support with 3,000 euros each multi-class classroom activated and 5,500 euros for each school complex involved.
This is the case of the ‘Ambrogio Traversari’ primary school in Portico, where the experiment started in 2022 and was adopted by the Region in the school year just ended. The 61 mountain municipalities in the region with multi-class schools for a total of 118 multi-classes will be able to apply to access the contributions. Deadline for submitting applications is 10 February 2025. The objective is to strengthen the educational offer of primary schools in the Apennine areas of Emilia-Romagna, financing innovative projects that the Municipalities undertake to implement together with educational institutions, bodies and organizations of the territory.
The project was launched on an experimental basis by the Region at the beginning of the 2022-2023 school year in 6 school complexes and 12 multi-class mountain schools in the provinces of Reggio Emilia (Lead Municipality Ventasso) and Forlì-Cesena (Lead Municipality Portico and San Benedetto). . In 2023 it was extended to the entire regional territory, to give the opportunity to all 61 municipalities in the mountain areas in which there were multiple classes of primary schools in the 2023/2024 school year to carry out educational projects and innovative services also thanks to funding, which amount to 3,000 euros for each multi-class classroom activated, plus 5,500 euros for each school complex involved. Overall, in 2023, actions worth more than 705 thousand euros were financed with the involvement of students from 109 multi-classes.
