Celebration in Fiumicino for the arrival of the 191 Afghans with the humanitarian corridors – Exaudi

I am 191 Afghan refugees arrived on Friday 21 June – and not Thursday 20 June due to a technical fault – thanks to the humanitarian corridors promoted by the Italian Episcopal Conference (through the Italian Caritas), by the Community of Sant’Egidio and by the Federation of Evangelical Churches in Italy, Tavola Valdese , Arci, in agreement with the Ministries of the Interior and Foreign Affairs.

Afghan citizens, refugees in Pakistan since August 2021, will be immediately transferred to different regions and will begin their integration, starting from learning the language and job placement, thanks to this project fully supported by the proposing organizations, with the support of some NGOs, including Solidaire, which contributed to the organization of the escape from Pakistan, Nove Onlus and the Pangea Foundation, which for months secured some of the families in their safe homes. The refugees will therefore be welcomed in houses and structures made available by the Community of Sant’Egidio, by the Italian Protestant Churches, by the Arci clubs, by Cáritas, as well as by Italian associations and citizens, who have offered their apartments to welcome them.

A welcome for refugees and a press conference will take place on Friday 21 June at 4pm at Terminal 5 of the Leonardo da Vinci International Airport in Fiumicino, in which the following will participate:

Andrea Riccardifounder of the Community of Sant’Egidio
