The main suspect for the murder of Alberto Fiori, which occurred in Villafranca di Verona late on Wednesday evening, handed himself in late Thursday afternoon.
The carabinieri of the investigative unit of the Verona provincial command, in cooperation with colleagues from the Villafranca Company, in the early evening of 20 June carried out an arrest of a crime suspect, issued by the Verona Prosecutor’s Office, against Athos Colombo, 55 years old and resident in Villafranca, “due to the serious indications of guilt that emerged and were acquired against him during the investigations”. The man presented himself to the provincial command of the Carabinieri of Mantua together with his lawyer, after which, once the formalities had been completed, he was taken to the Lombard prison at the disposal of the Veronese judicial authority.

After the incident the man apparently left, only to later turn himself in. The tensions between the two families would in fact then degenerate into the vandalization of the campers and trucks of one of the two, filmed in a series of photos and videos that made the rounds on WhatsApp and messaging apps.

Also on Thursday afternoon, two other individuals involved in the events in Villafranca, a 32-year-old and a 46-year-old also resident in the town, presented themselves to the Verona provincial command and were subjected to interrogation with the guarantees of the law, as they were investigated in relation to the ‘homocide.
The investigations by the Carabinieri to reconstruct the dynamics of the events in detail are still ongoing, under the directives of the Prosecutor’s Office.
