L’Aquila, stop to the heat wave over the weekend: thunderstorms return from Sunday

The heat wave will end over the weekend, but the afternoon instability will return starting from Sunday afternoon. Forecasts.

The weekend will mark the end of the heat wave, which has accompanied us in the last few days with milky skies and maximum temperatures even above 35°C. An Atlantic-based depression impulse sinking into the northern regions will tend to isolate itself as a depression pivoting on the Tyrrhenian Sea, breaching the narrow anticyclonic meshes stretching over central-northern Europe. A significant drop in temperatures, which will return in line with the averages of the period, will also follow afternoon instability starting from Sunday. Considering that the energy accumulated in the atmosphere is high, storm events of strong intensity, accompanied by sudden gusts of wind, electrical activity and local hailstorms cannot be ruled out.

The day of Saturday it will still be marked mainly by the anticyclonic presence over the Mediterranean. The sky will be clear of clouds until the evening, when veils and high clouds will arrive from the west. The afternoon clouds will be isolated and will not give rise to phenomena. Unfortunately, the amount of suspended desert particulates will still be high and, therefore, the sky will continue to appear grey/reddish. Temperatures will finally drop slightly, especially in the maximum values (MIN: +13/+20°C, MAX: +26/+34°C). Light winds with a breeze.

The day of Sunday it will open with clear or slightly cloudy skies, but vertically developing clouds will form over the main mountains during the morning. Such cloudiness will give rise to some scattered showers or thunderstorms in the afternoon hours. The phenomena may be locally intense. In the evening the clouds will tend to thin out and the phenomena to attenuate. The good news will be that the sand will gradually abandon our sky. Minimum and maximum temperatures falling (MIN: +11/+18°C, MAX: +24/+32°C). Weak breeze-like ventilation with moderate gusts in mountainous areas and in conjunction with thunderstorms.
