Hygiene, decorum, care of the city: central objectives for the future of Prato according to Confindustria

“Urban decorum and the fight against degradation is an objective that should be a priority within the Municipality of Prato and all the Municipalities in the area”. Fabia Romagnoli, vice-president of Confindustria Toscana Nord, said this, reporting reports of deterioration received from members. Confindustria Toscana Nord increasingly receives protests and complaints from members regarding the state of neglect in which many areas of Prato find themselves. Industrial but also residential, historical, monumental and commercial areas; even agricultural, in the suburbs. The abandonment of waste – from the infamous black bags with packaging scraps to old furniture, furnishings and household appliances – has become a widespread and disheartening bad practice”.

Romagnoli then adds: “Alia’s initiatives to brand those who show themselves so disinterested in the common good as incivility, with the campaign of stickers on abandoned waste, are right; also positive are all the initiatives aimed at promoting virtuous behavior and sanctioning, even harshly, irresponsible gestures. Urban decorum and the fight against degradation is an objective that should be a priority within the Municipality of Prato and all the Municipalities in the area. As an association we have often dealt with the problem of waste disposal, due to the well-known plant shortcomings; but their collection is also essential data. It is not a purely aesthetic fact, it is not an ‘extra’, it is not a marginal fact: without hygiene, cleanliness, an orderly and well-kept appearance, no one likes a city and no one is interested in it. Neither to those who live there, nor to those who work there, nor, much less, to potential visitors and investors. We could have the best equipped industrial areas and the most admirable artistic beauties: in the dirt and degradation everything is devalued, loses meaning, sees its future compromised“.
