Autonomy, Succurro (Anci Calabria): in its current form it can compromise our territories’ future

“The Calabrian mayors are very worried about the rapid approval of differentiated autonomy, which in its current form could compromise the future of our territories”. This was stated in a note by Rosaria Succurro, president of Anci Calabria, as well as mayor of San Giovanni in Fiore and president of the Province of Cosenza, expression of a centre-right majority.

“I had intercepted ahead of time – he adds – the perplexities and reservations of the Calabrian mayors on the text under discussion. Therefore, all together we had asked, through the prefects of the five provinces of Calabria, that the article contain the definition of the Lep and the financing methods, which unfortunately are missing in the approved text. In the final text there are no certainties on the definition and financing of the Leps, nor for the Regions that do not want to propose forms of autonomy or that want to propose them on matters outside the Leps. Furthermore, the cornerstone of equalization was not taken into account and there was no mature debate on the bill, nor the necessary in-depth analysis on the impact of the reform for the southern regions”.

“Therefore, as Calabrian mayors – says President Succurro – we will return to the prefects and we will continue to advance our sacrosanct requests all united, carrying on a battle that does not have, nor can have, political colors and which we consider necessary to honor our mandate of representatives of local communities”.
