It is a difficult and fundamental moment

“The electoral run-off on Sunday 23 and Monday 24 June constitutes an essential moment for the cities of Caltanissetta and Gela. On the other hand, as demonstrated by the tension that is perceived, in particular in communications, in comments, exasperated by social media tools , a question arises: do the citizens, not the virtual ones or those closed in on social media, have full awareness of the difficult and fundamental moment that awaits us? This is what the CGIL General Secretary, Rosanna Moncada, states in a note.
“It is not a question of limiting ourselves to the dutiful reporting of the electoral moment and the invitation to vote, in the name of our democratic and anti-fascist Constitution. It is, indeed, a question of turning the spotlight on the ‘real’ events that await us. trumpeted multi-million dollar funding from the much-referred to PNRR would seem to point towards the risk of attention from power groups, even the hidden and silent ones. It would not seem a coincidence, in fact, that in recent weeks the topic has been raised by the outgoing administrations – and the old and new ones , especially the latter, supporters, official and otherwise, of the same – was to indicate the quantity of the millions rather than represent, share, not just state, the projects upstream of the resources, requested at the time, the actual state of their elaboration thus to be able to understand, all citizens, all social representatives, the actual conditions of feasibility, feasibility, operation, of “grounding”, as they say.
Wanting to turn our attention to the real world, we cannot escape the harsh reality that characterizes our Province today. Social hardship is significant, as is the issue of work that doesn’t exist, or is precarious, especially for the younger generations and women. The state of welfare systems is in deficit. The incomplete and non-functional healthcare system: the issue of proximity is unknown. The administrative and operational machine of the Municipality marks its limits every day beyond the processes of digitization of the proceedings, proclaimed but not perceived: see the case of the tax office in Caltanissetta which, by simplifying, ends up being left on the shoulders of municipal workers rather than on the programmatic and management deficit of the top management of the municipal administration.
As the CGIL of Caltanissetta, which has always been committed to the protection and representation of workers’ rights, starting from the weakest and most defenceless, in the search for discussion, albeit dialectical, with institutional representatives with the aim of focusing on innovative and change-related needs and objectives, we demonstrate our concerns with conviction and at the same time we reiterate our commitment to seeking every instrument of change, of breaking away from the suffocating current situation. On the other hand, it should not be underestimated how what happens in our Province fully interacts with national events and the choices of the national government and the majority forces. The approval of “differentiated autonomy” rekindles all doubts about the effective and effective attention by the Meloni government and its allies to the needs of the South. Meloni claims the “growth” of the productivity and well-being data of the South but deliberately forgets to specify how these data derive from the effects of the social solidarity processes activated in recent years, most recently the minimum income, which, beyond the many inefficiencies and errors, allowed resources for the weakest social partners. These are those funds canceled by Meloni. In Caltanissetta as in Gela, however, we are not faced with a choice of sympathy, empathy or even ideology, lavished on the sly by many political insiders, between the two candidates competing in the run-off. The crossroads is clear: not choosing would mean not deciding, as if faced with a road crossroads we did not decide our direction and thus remained still or crashed. At the next crossroads we will have to choose change, passion and political intelligence with determination. With a commitment that we still reiterate today: the next administration will find in the CGIL an attentive and available but attentive interlocutor in the interests of legality and the good actions that must be implemented”
