La Spezia – The 31-year-old arrested by agents of the Flying Squad of the La Spezia Police Headquarters at the end of an investigation conducted in plain clothes was dealing drugs in the pedestrian area in front of the primary school and the media library.
The man had been observed several times in the previous days in suspicious attitudes and was caught by plainclothes anti-drug officers in the act of giving a dose of cocaine to another person.
The couple, evidently after having reached an agreement, moved from the pedestrian area located in front of the elementary schools and the media library, always discreetly observed by the State Police agents.
The drug dealing action took place near the intersection with Via Torino: while the buyer handed over 20 euros to the drug dealer, the latter fleetingly gave him a small wrapper in exchange, which was hidden in the fist of his hand.
The operators, who had observed the entire negotiation, stopped both the buyer – who had actually just received a dose of cocaine – and the drug dealer.
The latter was found in possession of both the price of the dose just sold and other banknotes of various denominations, considered probable proceeds of similar drug dealing activities.
During the search, which was carried out immediately, other drugs were also seized: approximately 38 grams of hashish.
The drug dealer was also found in possession of a particularly sharp cutter, used to divide the hashish to be dealt, which still had evident traces of the aforementioned substance on the blade.
Given the flagrant nature of the crime, the thirty-one-year-old, a Tunisian citizen already burdened by specific precedents, was arrested.
The buyer, found in possession of the newly purchased dose of cocaine, was accused of committing an offense pursuant to art. 75 of the Consolidated Law on Narcotic Substances, which administratively sanctions those who use drugs non-therapeutically.
The position of the arrested person, who is charged with the crime of drug dealing, aggravated by the circumstance of having sold the drugs in the vicinity of educational institutions, as well as detention for the purpose of drug dealing – conduct punished by articles 73 and 80 of the Consolidated Law of the Laws on Narcotic Substances – is now being examined by the Deputy Public Prosecutor Dr. Elisa LORIS and then by the Judge of the Court of La Spezia, for a detailed analysis of his conduct and responsibilities.
The arrest was validated with precautionary custody in prison.
The thirty-one year old will also have to answer for the detention of the cutter, whose possession was not justified and, therefore, it was forbidden to carry it in a public place.
