The Terre Magiche Sannite ETS Foundation, the “Balletto di Benevento” Company and the “Centro Studi Danza Carmen Castiello” are pleased to announce that the second edition of ‘Struscio di Streghe’ will be held from 5 to 7 July in the historic center of Benevento .
The program of the event will be presented on Monday 24 June, at 10 am, at the Roman Theater during a press conference in which the mayor Clemente Mastella, the councilor for Culture Antonella Tartaglia Polcini, the councilor for Tourism Attilio Cappa will take part , the councilor for Social Policies Carmen Coppola, the artistic director Carmen Castiello, the president of the Carmine Ricciardi Foundation, Mario Collarile, president of the Scientific Committee of the Foundation, and Ferdinando Creta, artistic director of the Arcos Museum.
The last edition hosted over 120 dancers from 12 dance schools in Campania, who performed in the presence of a highly qualified jury which included the Director of the San Carlo Corps de Ballet Clotilde Vayer and Raffaele Paganini, former principal dancer of the Rome Opera.
Also for 2024 the organization aims to keep the quality bar high.
The godmother of the event – directed by Linda Ocone – will be Erminia Gambarelli, Director of the Cairo Opera Theatre, while the jury will be made up of:
– Luciano Maria Cannito, President;
Choreographer and director, as well as President of the National Theater of the City of Naples
– Giuseppe Ilario, Director of the ‘Nicola Sala’ Conservatory of Benevento
– Hassan Eltabie, Principal Dancer of the Cairo Opera House
– Amilcare Jose’ Lombardi, stylist, Maison Lombardi Haute Couture
The competition aims to promote choreographic projects that explore the figure of Janara, interpreting the anthropological and cultural complexity of the phenomenon. Each participating group will have to represent a personal idea of the Janara woman, following the theme “Women in the history of humanity”. Both artistic and technical preparation will be examined by the jurors, for which there will be specific recognition.
