CATANZARO, JUNE 20. – This morning, the Prefect of Catanzaro convened the newly elected mayors in a meeting of greetings and discussion on the imminent challenges that the new local administrators will have to face.
During the meeting, the Prefect guaranteed the support and availability of the entire administrative structure of the Prefecture, underlining the importance of close and constant collaboration between the institutions.
The meeting also represented a moment of analysis of the most pressing problems affecting the area. Among the topics discussed, the issue of staff shortages in local administrations emerged, a problem that has been plaguing municipalities for some time and which requires urgent legislative solutions to ensure the efficient functioning of the administrative machinery.
Another crucial point covered was that of the accounting difficulties of the institutions. The mayors highlighted how the management of public finances is becoming increasingly complex, complicated by stringent regulations and increasingly limited resources.
Also in this area, the support of the Prefecture has been assured, with the aim of finding shared strategies to improve the financial situation of the municipalities.
An emergency that has not spared any municipality is that of drought. Mayors reported their communities’ concerns about water shortages, a problem that requires rapid and targeted interventions at both the local and national levels. The Prefect recognized the seriousness of the situation and promised to act as spokesperson to the central institutions to obtain the resources necessary to deal with this crisis.
No less important is the issue of the depopulation of internal areas, a phenomenon that has led to the closure of numerous schools and the loss of essential services for citizens. The mayors reiterated the urgency of active policies to revitalize these territories, promoting initiatives that can attract new families and create job opportunities.
At the end of the meeting, the mayors demonstrated a united front, declaring themselves ready to defend the rights of their communities and work together to overcome common challenges. “We are determined to leave no one behind and to ensure a better future for our citizens,” said one of the first citizens present.
