Olimpia EA7 Milan has officially lost its captain, Nicolò Melli, and is now already looking for a replacement, who should be Ousmane Diop. The former Sassari player has been a concrete target for the Milanese side for months and now, as reported by Giuseppe Sciascia on Superbasket, he would be much closer than a few weeks ago.
Clearly Diop would not replace Melli at EA7 Milan from a technical point of view but from a positional point of view, that is, he will be the reference big man from the Italian team for the Serie A championship. Nik will be replaced by a profile of his level, even if the addition of Josh Nebo already makes the red and whites’ intentions clear.
We’ll see what will happen and whether the former Dinamo Sassari, Torino and Cagliari player will really sign for Olimpia, although it is very likely since it is a rumor that has been circulating for many months. He is certainly an intriguing player and with whom Messina can undertake a certain type of growth path. He will hardly reach Melli’s level, also because few have ever reached that level, but he certainly could be very interesting from a future Olimpia perspective.
