The Abi Center turns 15 and is celebrating together with the city: the center managed by the Unicoop sul Facsal cooperative has organised, on 20 June, a day dedicated not only to the presentation of the innovative service, which has also attracted the interest of international pressbut also entertainment opportunities, aimed at all ages in the name of the inspiring principle of the centre, which unites children and the elderly.
The little ones were thus able to try their hand at games from the past, edited by Ludobus Truccioli Monelliwith the help of the ‘grandparents’ of the Abi center: some of them have in fact joined the entertainment activities.
“After a few years of absence, also linked to Covid, we decided to reopen the center to the city: an information stand was present throughout the morning along the Facsal – explains the president of Unicoop Valentina Suzzani -, while in the afternoon the children were able to try their hand at old games. It was an opportunity to once again show what we do in the Abi center – the flagship project of Piacenza Vision 2020 – and which is still unique in Italy. The celebrations for our 15 years do not end here: in the autumn there will be a presentation of the scientific research linked to the intergenerational exchange, which we are doing with the Agnelli Foundation, and whether it is possible to replicate our project also in other realities”.
“The idea behind the Abi centre, bringing together elderly people and children, is very simple but no one has ever thought of it before” recalls Suzzani.
Another new development in these hours is the approval by Crédit Agricole of the fundraising platform for Abi’s 15th anniversary: the contributions collected will be used to redevelop the centre’s hall. The credit institution’s support will be formalized in the participation in the intervention: Crédit Agricole, already a financial partner of Abi, undertakes to pay a contribution equal to the amount raised, up to 50% of the necessary sum.
