TURIN – Robbery of a tobacco shop 5 times: 27-year-old arrested

TURIN – A 27-year-old Italian citizen was arrested by personnel of the Barriera Milano Public Security Police Station for aggravated robbery of a commercial establishment.

Following some robberies committed last May against a tobacconist, the judicial police team of the Barriera Milano Public Security Commissariat collected useful elements for identifying the suspect. Also thanks to the premises’ surveillance cameras, which had clearly captured the young perpetrator of the crimes boldly entering the business with his face uncovered, simply wearing sunglasses, and threatening the owner, a fairly precise description of the perpetrator was arrived at of the facts.

In the images from the video surveillance system, the man, who quickly entered the room, although not visibly armed, made the victim understand that he had a weapon with him, threatening to “reduce him to a wheelchair” if he did not give him the collection; on one occasion he had made him believe that he was following the acid with which he could disfigure him, and also that if he did not comply with his requests he would return to set fire to his business.

Through these methods he managed to have cash delivered for a total amount of approximately 2000 euros and several cartons of cigarettes. The speed and systematic nature of the robberies suffered (three, the first, within 24 hours) had led the tobacconist to close the shop for around two weeks. Upon reopening, however, the criminal actions resumed, until the decisive intervention of the police from the local police station, who arrested the robber in flagrante delicto.

In consideration of the evidence collected against him, regarding the 5 robberies previously suffered by the tobacconist, the Court of Turin – GIP Section ordered the application of the precautionary measure of custody in prison against the twenty-seven year old.
