In view of the run-off I chose, as I have already stated, not to be related. I would like to specify that this decision has consequences since not having signed a connection agreement with one of the two coalitions means that the Oggi per Domani civic list will not be able to participate in the majority prize in the allocation of seats and will therefore become whoever wins the elections is part of the City Council as a minority force.
For this reason, I consider even more significant the statements released in recent days by the Mayoral candidates who nevertheless expressed appreciation for many points of my civic program, some of which were also expressly taken up in the public discussion in Piazza Duomo on Wednesday evening when both spoke about young people, policies for children, adolescence and services to support families. Portesani’s willingness to integrate his program with some of my proposals is in line with the esteem he expressed, even publicly, towards me throughout the electoral campaign, often quoting me in his speeches. Virgilio’s openness is consistent with his declarations regarding the beginning of a new path of dialogue and discussion also with those who, like me, have been in opposition in the last ten years, also supported by the expressed desire for an important renewal of the possible council.
This willingness to take into account the skills, which both recognized in me, regardless of affiliation, however does not represent anything new in the Cremonese political panorama as I would like to remember how Mayor Perri, appreciating people like Albertoni, Galli and Cauzzi, confirmed them in their respective roles in which they had been appointed by centre-left administrations. I believe this was the added value of that centre-right administration which in this electoral campaign is still harshly criticized by members of the current council who have not shown the same respect for those same people. A treatment reserved even for the outgoing Mayor, who disappeared from the electoral campaign and has now become “the Unnameable”.
I am therefore happy that both the current candidates Virgilio and Portesani have expressed the desire to distance themselves from certain logics, immediately opening a dialogue and a constructive discussion which I believe will only bring positive results in the administration of the city.
