From today to June 23rd the fairgrounds of Gravina in Puglia will host “Biodiverse. The Italy of Parks tells its story”, a national event to tell and celebrate the richness of Italian protected areas and their natural ecosystems.
The event is promoted by Alta Murgia National Park on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of its establishment (10 March 2004) and is organized in collaboration with Federparchi and with the support of the Ministry of the Environment and Energy Security (MASE), ISPRA, the Puglia Region, the Lazio Region and the Municipality of Gravina .
Over the three days, the program includes various meetings with industry experts to delve deeper into issues related to environmental protection and sustainable development but also moments of entertainment with shows, concerts, show cooking, excursions and experiential workshops.
“20 years of the Alta Murgia National Park: conservation, management, future challenges” is the theme of the meeting which will inaugurate the event today at 10.30am.
Speakers include the Minister of MASE, Gilberto Pichetto Fratinthe Undersecretary of State at MASE, Claudio Barbarothe president of the Puglia Region, Michele Emiliano, the councilor for Agriculture, Parks and Forests of the Lazio Region, Giancarlo Righini, and the president of Federparchi Europarc Italia, Luca Santini.
The mayor of Bitonto will also be present at the inaugural meeting, together with the first citizens of the municipalities of the Alta Murgia National Park, Francesco Paolo Ricci.
«Biodiverse – he declares Ricci – represents an extraordinary opportunity to reflect online on relevant issues, and on which we must never let our guard down, such as environmental protection. We have the privilege of living in a special territory and the Alta Murgia National Park, of which the Municipality of Bitonto is part, is a flagship of our land that deserves to be protected and safeguarded”.
In fact, Bitonto will be present as a member of the Park in the institutional stand and in that of the oil producers, the main product of the city, which makes a fine display in the Park’s basket.
