The SAP of Crotone expresses its applause and recognition to the colleagues of the flying team of the local General Prevention and Public Rescue Office of Crotone for the exceptional work demonstrated during a recent intervention which saw the arrest of a 44 year old man from Crotonefor the crimes of resistance and violence against a public official, personal injury, threats and illegal possession of weapons.
The operators intervened promptly following a call to the emergency number 112, in which the applicant reported that his brother, in a strong state of agitation, was turning the apartment upside down and threatening the applicant and his mother with death with a knife. Once on site, the officers tracked down the applicant and his mother hidden in a car at a safe distance from the house. They then identified the reported subject near the front door.
Upon seeing the officers, the individual lunged at them brandishing hedge shears and a large kitchen knife. Despite the man’s repeated attempts to hit the officers, one of whom suffered a wrist traumaoperators maintained the calm and theoperationfinally resorting to the use of the Taser, the electric pulse gun, to block and disarm the attacker.
As a Police Union, we are very satisfied for having obtained the adoption of the taser among the tools available to our operators, thanks to a historic battle by the SAP. The taser has proven effective and useful in critical situations, as demonstrated by the intervention of the Crotone police squad.
