A seventy-year-old man was hit by a concrete mixer in Rho (Milan). He was riding his bicycle. The Milan prosecutor’s office has opened a case for road homicide in the case.

Yesterday, Wednesday 19 June, a seventy-year-old man was hit by a cement mixer in Rho, a municipality located in the province of Milan. The seventy-year-old died immediately after the accident: his injuries were too serious. The public prosecutor on duty at the Milan Prosecutor’s Office Rosario Ferracane was open about the case a case of vehicular homicide. The victim’s name was Claudio Zappa.

At the time of the accident, which occurred around 5.30 pm, the cyclist was traveling along Corso Europa. At the intersection with Via del Majno he was hit by a heavy vehicle driven by a 42-year-old man who, immediately after the accident, was transferred to hospital in a strong state of shock. Both the heavy vehicle and the cyclist were traveling in the same direction, precisely towards Legnano: they would have collided when the traffic light turned green, at which they were both stopped. What happened, for the moment, is a mystery.

The police intervened on site and carried out all the necessary investigations to reconstruct the exact dynamics of the affair and ascertain any responsibilities. The driver of the vehicle was registered in the register of suspects by the Prosecutor’s Office in order to carry out all investigations in the case. He will also be subjected to all alcohol and drug tests. It is unclear whether an autopsy will be carried out on the victim’s body. In the next few hours we will be able to have a more precise picture.
