The Lions Club Gallarate Seprio announces that, one month after the start of the service, I am 82 smartphones have already been donated used.
Given this first truly encouraging result, in collaboration with the same commercial activities, has decided to also promote the “Progetto Italia” used glasses collection campaign always in Cassano Magnago through the Member Andrea Pisani.
There are nineteen Lions Eyeglass Recycling Centers around the world, which in 2023 alone received approximately 6 million pairs of eyeglasses and delivered over 2.8 million to developing nations.
This international service also provides valid support in emergency situations that follow natural disasters such as floods and earthquakes since, in similar circumstances, the population, when fleeing, abandons their glasses in homes which are often unusable or unreachable with serious consequences on the possibility recovery and functionality of daily activities.
The Service “Project Italy” was born to provide glasses for freeand in the types requested, directly to: Institutions, Bodies, structures, Associations, as well as Families needy that the Lions Clubs have identified in their territories or who have requested them.
Currently in Italy over 41 % of the population (equal to 24,500,000 people) uses lenses, of which the 7.5 % live in absolute poverty *.
All these people may have difficulty obtaining the glasses they need, especially children and the elderly (* ISTAT data)
The used glasses collected, through the four boxes already present, will be cleaned, repaired and classified according to their strength Italian center of Chivasso in Piedmont and then they will be distributed by Lions volunteers.
It will be a simple gesture with which the Cassanesi citizens will feel gratified for having helped a huge number of needy people, our compatriots.

The President of the Club, Silvia Radaelli, declared: “After having noted with great pleasure this collaboration from the citizens of Cassano Magnago, we have also considered launching the collection of used glasses as it is a widespread medical support among the population.
Those who have glasses that they no longer use will be able to give new hope to those less fortunate by simply delivering them to the same cell phone boxes at Scissorhands, VapeRoom 76, New Energy Ssdrl, Muppet Bar e Repair & Services – Cell Phone Repair.
Afterwards, our members will take care of the collection and transport to the dedicated center for their control and subsequent deliveries to those who need it most.
This service also combines utility with social sensitivity, allowing the conscious and praiseworthy reuse of used objects, on behalf of all Members of the Club I express our gratitude to the entire City for the attention and present and future collaboration that they will grant us”
