CORREGGIO (Reggio Emilia) – Since 2017 it no longer produced or marketed anything; the company headquarters emptied of machinery, but still capable of issue, up to 2023, as many as 255 invoices. The financiers of the Provincial Command, as part of the activity to combat tax fraud, have discovered a sole proprietorship, operating in clothing which, despite having ceased operations in June 2017, continued to invoice services that were never performed. The company had been transformed into a “paper mill”as companies dedicated solely to issuing invoices for completely non-existent commercial operations are defined.
There tax fraud was brought to light by the soldiers of the Correggio Tenenza, following an inspection activity launched against a Chinese entrepreneur, initially identified only as total tax evader. Subsequent investigations instead made it possible to discover the real activity of the company which specialized in issuing false invoices, which were then used to obtain tax relief from other companies operating in the same textile and clothing sector and almost all managed by other Chinese entrepreneurs, mainly in Emilia Romagna. 255 invoices for a total taxable amount of 6 million euros have allowed those who received them to evade income taxes and benefit from aVAT unduly deducted of 1.3 million.
The Chinese, who has now disappeared without trace, was reported to the Prosecutor’s Office for the crime of issuing false invoices. Since he was a total tax evader, the financiers then reconstructed and charged him with the crime income produced and not declared from 2017 to 2023, for an estimated value of 1.3 million and they contested an evaded tax of approximately 510 thousand euros, in addition to the VAT due of approximately 1.240 million. It was thus proposed to the Revenue Agency to proceed with the automatic termination of the VAT number.
