Green light from the Liguria Region to the Strategic Development Plan relating to the Simplified Logistics Zone “Port and Rearport of La Spezia”, drawn up in agreement with the Port System Authority of the Eastern Ligurian Sea. The document was sent to the competent ministries to draw up the preliminary investigation that will lead to the issuing of the Prime Ministerial Decree. In addition to five Emilian municipalities, the subject of an agreement that the Liguria Region signed with Emilia Romagna in May, the municipalities of Arcola, Follo, La Spezia, Santo Stefano Magra and Vezzano Ligure will be included in the La Spezia ZLS.

“The Liguria Region and the Port System Authority of the Eastern Ligurian Sea have worked to conclude the preparatory process for the establishment of the ZLS and to finally be able to complete this project to attract investments and employment – explains the regional councilor for economic development with delegation to Ports and Logistics Alessio Piana -. With this resolution, following the discussions initiated with the municipalities and local stakeholders, we present to the competent ministries the total surfaces of the area which will include 339.24 hectares of Liguria and 148.06 hectares of Emilian retroporto. An important step towards arriving, hopefully by the end of the year, at the establishing ministerial decree which will allow companies that want to invest to be able to benefit from simplified and accelerated procedures for authorizations or permits”.

“It is – declares the president of the Port System Authority of the Eastern Ligurian Sea Mario Sommariva – a tool of great value for attracting investments and creating new jobs. The ideal tool to give a new impulse to the rear port areas, starting from S.Stefano di Magra, as well as for integration with the logistical and industrial development areas of the province of Parma. A decisive step is therefore being taken for the development and innovation prospects of our territory and the entire port system”.

The ZLS has a minimum duration of seven years, renewable for a further seven.
