The meeting with Dr. Chiara Armenia, Prefect of Caltanissetta, took place last Tuesday to discuss the critical situation of the lack of water that is affecting the city, with particular reference to public businesses and similar activities.
Representatives of Ascom Sicilia Caltanissetta participated in the meeting: Laura Ginevra, Salvatore Villa, Michael Gabriel Miccichè and Alessio Matraxia.
The union representatives represented the concerns and needs of the category of restaurateurs, bars, restaurants, takeaways, pastry shops, bakeries and other similar activities.
Spokesperson Laura Ginevra thanked the Prefect for the attention dedicated to the problems of the category, declaring: “We thank the Prefect for having accepted our requests and for the availability demonstrated in addressing a problem that puts at risk not only the economic sustainability of the our activities, but also public health and the quality of services offered to citizens.”
During the meeting, the problems related to water scarcity and the need for urgent interventions to guarantee a constant supply of water for catering activities and public establishments were discussed. Laura Ginevra highlighted the importance of an emergency plan that includes these activities among the water supply priorities.
The spokeswoman also added that, once the mayoral election phase is over, she will undertake to meet the elected mayor to implement immediate solutions to avoid leaving businesses without water. This step is essential to ensure the continuity of essential services and the well-being of the community.
The Prefect assured his commitment to evaluating concrete solutions to mitigate the water crisis and support the commercial activities involved. The meeting concluded with a mutual commitment to maintain an open and constant dialogue to monitor the evolution of the situation and adopt the necessary measures.
