The tragic accident, yet another on the streets of the Marche, occurred along Viale Europa, in the San Liberale district, near the pedestrian crossing of the roundabout at the intersection with Via Tre Venezie.

A man, apparently between 30 and 40 years old and probably foreign, was crossing the pedestrian crossing on his bicycle. During the crossing, he was hit by a black Fiat Tipo driven by a 71-year-oldmanager of Tarvisium Rugby.

The driver of the car has been registered as a suspect for road homicide. The Treviso Prosecutor’s Office seized both the car and the bike, which does not show significant damage, confirming a non-violent collision of tragic randomness.

Cyclists hit on the roads of the Marche

Unfortunately, yesterday’s tragedy was just the latest in the Marche. At the beginning of June Giulia Mauri lost her life when hit by a crane truck while he was cycling along Viale della Repubblica in Treviso.

Also at the beginning of June, on the night between Saturday 1 and Sunday 2 June 2024, in Spresiano, a 47-year-old cyclist was hit by a car along Via Tiepolo.

The hit-and-run driver fled following the road accident, without providing aid to the injured person.

Sunday 7 April 2024, in Castelcucco, Alfredo Cecconan amateur cyclist, was cycling with some friends in via Santa Lucia, near the cemetery, when suddenly a car hit him.

The car, driven by a 90-year-old, apparently turned towards the cemetery without having noticed the group of cyclists, headed towards the center of the town, who were coming from the opposite direction. The impact was fatal for the 55-year-old. Despite the intervention of the emergency services and resuscitation attempts for the cyclist, there was nothing that could be done.
