Cosenza, a theater and a graphic arts laboratory in the old “printing shop” recovered in the heart of the historic center

COSENZA Saturday 22 June Universal cinema-theatre and the Printing Without Press they open the doors.
In the middle of the old city, in via San Francesco d’Assisi 35, some of the artisanal, artistic and creative practices that live and express themselves in this space will be presented to the public, filling it with new energy.
After years of abandonment, this building was reopened at the end of 2021 by a small group of people, inhabitants of the neighborhoodwith the common desire to set up a space where we can meet and stop to create, learn and share.
Started from recovery of a mountain of movable typeIn this place a was built typographic and graphic arts laboratory to be conceived and created by hand, «in a transversal perspective of re-elaboration and reuse, towards the rediscovery of those arts and that knowledge that in this frenetic and standardized world, too often, are lost sight of» say the promoters of the initiative .

Next to the drawers full of lead characters, lines, spaces and iron bars to build the matrices, there was another half of the collapsed structure, to be completely rethought: beam after beam, this old ruined construction became a room with 63 seats and a small stagewhich – the organizers announce – will host various bodies, images and sounds on the occasion of this opening.
Starting from 8.30pm on Saturday 22 June, two years after those first curious steps, all interested people are invited to «share an evening of exploration and knowledge of the cinema-theater and the printing press, places rethought and made safe to be crossed from new flows of life and arts”.
