asks for a ticket, gets punched in the face

Reggio Emilia, 06/20/2024 –
Hit in the face with a punch after
asked for the ticket to a passenger on the bus. Yet another attack against local mobility staff took place this morning, just after 11am, on the
line 9.

“I was driving in the direction
Zucchi barracks – says the driver – when I heard screams at the back of the vehicle. There were two conductors on board, one of them asked a passenger to show her the ticket. She didn’t have it, so she asked her for the documents”.

It started there
chaos: “The woman, a foreigner, started hitting the girl first with her bag, then punched her in the face. When we got off
the girl was in tearsshocked and agitated.”

The driver called the
police: “The officers took her away – he says – and I then accompanied the two inspectors to the police station on the bus”.

The verifier is now in hospital for checks; while waiting for the latter to file a complaint, the woman who attacked her, a 32-year-old Nigerian with a drug record, is in
state of arrest.

The theme of
attacks on buses was the subject of a recent meeting in the Prefecture in the presence of trade unions, Seta and the Municipality. In the last few weeks alone,
three more episodes: a driver was ambushed at the terminus, another was threatened by a group of boys, a third was pulled by a passenger who then also broke a mirror

For this reason i
labor unions they pushed for a meeting, which was then obtained, which would lead to an ad hoc security protocol to avoid further attacks and, if they occur, to be able to intervene immediately and with quicker communication between the staff and the police.
