A demonstration will take place tomorrow Friday in Piazza del Popolo in Vittoria to express solidarity with the Zaouali family, victims of the tragedy of the fire set by their son suffering from mental problems.
The event was originally supposed to be held last Tuesday, but was postponed due to the lack of the necessary authorizations. The appointment is at 8.00 pm, participants have been invited to wear white or red t-shirts.
Meanwhile, after the death of her mother Mariam and her older sister, Sameh, there are some timid signs of recovery from the two other victims who are still fighting to survive. Kamel Zouali, the head of the family, would have regained consciousness, while her younger sister is still in intensive care. One is hospitalized in Palermo, the other in Catania.
And the fundraising started by Desy Aloui, organizer of the GoFundMe, continues in favor of the only survivor of the tragedy, Wajdi Zaouali’s sister, a university student away from home. The funds raised currently amount to just over 8,400 euros. The young woman will have to deal with the tragic death of her mother and sister, and assist other family members who are still in intensive care. And while Wajdi Zaouali remains in prison, after the judge for preliminary investigations Vincenzo Ignaccolo validated the arrest, the return of the bodies for the funeral is still awaited. For that day the mayor of Vittoria will proclaim city mourning.
