TERAMO. The investigation by the Teramo prosecutor’s office into the fireworks produced in the Caprafico factory, the one in which an explosion occurred a year ago resulting in the death of an employee, has met the interest of the Amsterdam prosecutor’s office which has opened its own investigation on some pyrotechnic products, in particular the famous Cobras, which were marketed abroad. Products, he has always supported Elio Di Blasioowner of the Caprafico company, which would be the result of a counterfeiting activity carried out abroad to the detriment of the Teramo company.
And yesterday, as part of the investigation by the Dutch judicial authority, a group of magistrates and representatives of the Amsterdam police met with the magistrates of the Teramo prosecutor’s office who are dealing with the case. After the prosecutor’s greetings Ettore Picardithe Dutch authorities had a long meeting with the prosecutor Stefano Giovagnoni and the pm Silvia Scamurra. He also attended the meeting Paride Minervini, the ballistics consultant appointed by the Teramo Prosecutor’s Office to reconstruct the causes of the explosion and carry out other investigations. The meeting between magistrates and representatives of the police went on for hours: the content and outcome remain shrouded in strict confidentiality.
In April, during a press conference, the entrepreneur Elio Di Blasio declared: «We have never exported or marketed products in the Netherlands where many counterfeit products circulate. Nothing has been produced in my company since last year (the activity was suspended after the accident ed) and despite this there have still been seizures of counterfeit products. This should lead to reflection. I can say that as long as my company was producing material, all the pieces released met the required safety standards. I have always respected the law and industry regulations. The counterfeiting of Cobra products, of which there are various videos on the internet, is very clear: these are different products, with completely different methods from those followed in my company. For years I have personally been pursuing legal action at national and European level against the counterfeiting of my products and for the protection of the Cobra community trademark. The Di Blasio company has repeatedly appeared as an injured party in proceedings involving the illegal trade of counterfeit Cobra brand products, filing complaints whenever it became aware of the facts.”
The Teramo public prosecutor’s office (the file holder is prosecutor Giovagnoni) has meanwhile asked for a trial to ascertain responsibility for the explosion in the fireworks company where the employee died last year Dino Trignani and another was injured. He did so with a request for indictment for Elio Di Blasio and his son Massimiliano. The first is being investigated in his capacity as owner of the company, the second in his capacity as de facto employer who, according to the Prosecutor’s Office, provided operational directives to the employees. In this case, the Prosecutor’s Office still maintains, two employees, victim and injured, who did not have the technical competence and mandatory training to carry out certain tasks with explosive material.
