Viterbo – They defraud a widow and take away 10 thousand euros in money and jewels.
Elderly people once again in the sights of criminals who forcefully return to action in Tuscia. The techniques used are the most disparate.
But the most “in vogue” lately seems to be that of the courier who pretends to have to deliver a package for a child or grandchild with payment on delivery.
It is precisely with this method that an elderly widow from Viterbo was deceived.
According to what has been reconstructed, a scammer rang her doorbell pretending to have to leave a package for a relative, telling the woman that she had to pay for it on the spot for delivery.
The old woman, obviously finding herself unprepared, responded that she didn’t have enough money. But the fake postman insisted, saying: “Don’t worry, even the gold you have at home is fine.”
The woman, trusting, handed over money and jewels. But when she realized she had been scammed it was too late and she contacted the police.
