haywire traffic and internet down La Nuova Sardegna

Sassari Nightmare Tuesday at Predda Niedda, the dilapidated former industrial area which, despite being literally falling apart, continues its inexorable expansion. And a new settlement on its main axis formed by roads 2-18 (where more cars pass during rush hours than in Via Roma) has caused the day of incredible hardships.

Inconveniences which, it is worth underlining, have been going on for a few days regarding traffic. In fact, at the end of the left side of road 2 (the one that hosts Tuttigiorni and Obus) a new maxi restaurant serving Chinese and Japanese Asian fusion cuisine is being built: Sushi linealready present in Olbia and Nuoro.

While the completion of the building is progressing at a rapid pace, a company is working on the connection to the Abbanoa network, located on the opposite side of the road. Due to excavation work on the very busy road we proceed to alternating one-wayregulated by a traffic light, with significant slowdowns in traffic and the formation of long queues.

So far nothing can be avoided, with Predda Niedda regulars who are now accustomed not only to the chasms in the road, but also to the various construction sites due to openings or collapses (it is enough for everyone to remember that of the underpass a little further back).

Tuesday morning however, the workers of the company in charge of the connection, during an excavation, had the fiber optic cable was severed with an excavatorsending the network goes haywire in the upper part of the former industrial area. A serious outage that caused major problems for dozens of companies operating in the area (where the Nuova Sardegna editorial office is also based, which was only able to operate thanks to a backup line installed late in the evening), with many phone calls and reports arriving at the headquarters of the industrial consortium.

Fiber technicians are interventions for repair the damage, which turned out to be serious, e only at midnight they managed to close the intervention, reactivating the network in Predda Niedda. Problem solved, with a second act which was staged yesterday morning, however, which will inevitably have consequences. The company that is carrying out the connection to the water network in fact declared that, before starting the connection work, it asked the consortium for the updated map of the underground services. In fact, the fiber cannot be detected in advance with ground penetrating radar, and is also very delicate. Not having received the requested information, it was inevitably decided to continue with the excavation anyway, ending up severing the network and creating damage for which the company itself has no intention of taking any responsibility.

Reconstruction sent back to the sender by the liquidator Giannetto Satta, on alert since Tuesday, which yesterday morning sent a communication to the Sushi line, reporting the inconvenience caused and inviting the company, as per agreement, to deal with any damage caused to third parties. In short, a battle of stamped papers is announced. And in the meantime the daily war of tens of thousands of people who work, frequent and in some cases live in Predda Niedda continues, and every day they have to deal with a new, unfortunately dramatic adventure. With the former Zir which, although abandoned, continues to attract new businesses, demonstrating what its incredible potential could be.
