The motorcyclist who died on Wednesday morning in Bologna was 61 years old and originally from Castiglione del Lago. According to what has been reconstructed, the 61-year-old was traveling on the A1 Milan-Naples motorway, near Sasso Marconi, towards Bologna at around 7.30 when he ended up under a heavy vehicle. According to an initial reconstruction, the man lost control of the vehicle and ended up on the asphalt; at that point the 61-year-old would have been hit by the truck.

The facts The truck driver didn’t notice anything at first: the driver stopped only a few meters later when a tire exploded. At that point he alerted the emergency services but there was nothing that could be done for the man, who was transported by 118 to the hospital in Bologna: his death occurred shortly after his admission to hospital. The section of the A1 between Sasso Marconi and Sasso Marconi nord was closed for about half an hour and queues formed for up to 10 kilometers in the direction of Bologna.
