Florence, 19 June 2024 – There is a happy ending for the professor Genny Carpinteri, the teacher of the Marco Polo Institute in Florence, known for her communication projects with high school students. “On Monday, around 6.30 pm, an inspector from the municipal police rang at my door – says Genny, still in disbelief – He showed me his badge and told me that they were investigating a gang dedicated to stealing scooters in Florence, so they had found my scooter. He invited me to meet in the car park in front of the Overfit pub San Bartolo a Cintoia. At first I didn’t believe it, I feared it might be a scam and it was all a plot to make me go there and extort money from me, so I also called my husband. But it was all true! The agents were very nice and above all professional. Among other things, when speaking, it emerged that they had also seen the article about my appeal on social media.”
“We got there and there was the scooter, it was mine – continues the teacher – In three weeks it seemed to have aged ten years: scratched, beaten, bent brake lever, the trunk was forced and the helmet was also stolen. Plus, they covered a lot of kilometers in just a few days, more than a thousand. We have now taken it to the mechanic to assess the damage. But the kindness and skill of the Anti-Crime Department didn’t end there: they sent me photos of some helmets stolen and recovered, although I haven’t located mine yet.”
“My husband and I would like to thank you for your excellent investigative work carried out by the agents of the Anti-Crime Department and to underline their professionalism and kindness: unfortunately the damage to the vehicle is considerable, but it was exciting to see their operational competence”, highlighted the teacher. Since the beginning of the year, the Anti-Crime Department has recovered 25 scooters stolen, returning them to their legitimate owners and reporting the perpetrators of the thefts to the judicial authorities.
