General Garofano, ‘Pierina’s murder was premeditated’

Death from natural causes. This conclusion was reached by the medical examiner appointed by the Public Prosecutor’s Office of Rimini to carry out the autopsy on the body of Daniele Di Marino, the 42-year-old professor of molecular biology, originally from Rome but resident in Como, who died on Saturday evening on the Bellaria Igea seafront Marina after an evening in a club on the beach. The Rimini prosecutor’s office has opened a case against unknown persons and for now there is nothing to suggest that Di Marino died from some violent act. There were no signs of a struggle nor of bruises or blows to the head received. It is not yet clear what the natural cause that ended the young professor’s life is. Di Marino’s family also followed the autopsy through the forensic medicine consultant. The authorization for the return of the body to the family has arrived from the Prosecutor’s Office. The investigation by the Prosecutor’s Office began as a necessary action following the report of the wife who was with the professor at the time of the fatal illness. According to the woman, who was eight months pregnant, her husband had felt ill immediately after leaving the club around 11.30pm. The Carabinieri of Bellaria Igea Marina and 118 intervened on site and tried to resuscitate the professor for 50 minutes. The 118 doctor’s report was that the death could also be compatible with violent causes. According to what his wife reported, Di Marino had danced in the club, “moshing”. But the autopsy ruled out death as a result of trauma.
