VICENZA, FOUR MUNICIPALITIES CALLED TO THE BALLOT

VICENZA, FOUR MUNICIPALITIES CALLED TO THE BALLOT

With 75 municipalities called to vote in the first round, the province of Vicenza a week ago was the territory with the record number of municipalities called to the polls. And out of the six municipalities with more than fifteen thousand inhabitants who had cast their votes at the polls, four return to the polls on Sunday 23 and Monday 24 June to elect their mayors through the decisive run-off round.

The harshest battle is played out in Bassano del Grappa, where the outgoing mayor Elena Pavan was unable to remain in the running for a new mandate, penalized by internal divisions in the centre-right. Competing for the role of mayor will be Roberto Campagnolo, a centre-left candidate with a consensus of 28.4% in the first round, and the vice-president of the regional council Nicola Finco with his 25%, won with the symbols of Lega and Forza Italy. The excluded come back into play with the alliances: Zen sides with Campagnolo, as does the Action party, which distances itself from its candidate in the first round, Roberto Marin, who takes a position with Finco as well as Fratelli d’Italia.

Montecchio Maggiore also returns to the polls: the challenge here is between the regional councilor Milena Cecchetto (34.11% in the first round) supported by the centre-right, and the democrat Silvio Parise (who closed the first round with 28.23%). We also return to the polls in Schio, a municipality where Cristina Marigo starts with a six-point lead (46.02% in the first round) over Cristiano Eberle (40.74%): the votes obtained by Alex Cioni with his 13% will be decisive , standard bearer of the Brothers of Italy.

Finally, there is also voting in Valdagno: the game is still open between Alessandro Burtini of the centre-right (38.51%) and Maurizio Zordan (23.65% in the first round), with the great exclusion of the Democratic Party. No alliances or affiliations, in this case: the last, definitive word will be up to the voters alone.
