Soriano nel Cimino – He stabs a boy and the friend who tried to defend him, 29 year old arrested for attempted murder. Intervention yesterday evening by the Carabinieri of the Viterbo company.

“On the night of 19 June in via Della Palazzina – we read in the official note -, the carabinieri of the Viterbo company arrested a twenty-nine year old from the capital, already known to the police, currently held responsible for attempted murder.
“In fact, on the same night in Soriano nel Cimino – the Carabinieri command specifies -, along Via San Giorgio – a road that leads away from the town center towards wooded areas – a patrol from the local station intervened to help four people around a parked car. The soldiers found themselves in front of a 33-year-old with three serious stab wounds to the abdomen and a 25-year-old suffering similar injuries on her right hand”.
“From the investigations carried out immediately by the Via Parisi station it emerged that another car had pulled alongside them shortly before – we read again -, a young man armed with a knife got out and attacked the first victim while he was still in his seat front passenger side, ending up also hitting the girl, who had tried in vain to intervene in defense of her friend”.
“While the victims were taken by ambulance to the emergency room of the Belcolle hospital – continues the note -, the search for the offender had already been activated, coordinated by the company’s operations centre, through the use of patrols from the Nor Radiomobile section”.
“Continuing the investigations in synergy with colleagues, the military tracked down the 29-year-old in the city, as well as the knife used and abandoned on the Cimini, along the Colonnetta provincial road, placing it under seizure.
The alleged attacker has been restricted to house arrest, as ordered by the Viterbo public prosecutor’s office, informed by the military of any developments, and is at the disposal of the Viterbo judicial authority”, concludes the note.

In the Italian criminal system the presumption of innocence applies until the final sentence. Presumption of innocence which is based on article 27 of the Italian constitution according to which a person “is not considered guilty until finally convicted”.
