A large fire broke out today between the municipalities of Aversa and Giugliano in Campania, between the provinces of Naples and Caserta. A huge column of thick black smoke rose into the sky, visible even from several kilometers away. Several fire brigade teams arrived on site from the Caserta provincial command, from the Aversa and Marcianise detachments and from the Naples command, with the support of three tankers.

The extinguishing operations are still underway. According to initial information, the flames developed in a building material warehouse in Aversa (Caserta), in Viale Europa, generating a dense black cloud that is invading houses and streets, making the air unbreathable. Four fire brigade teams are at work on site. The residents are closed in their homes, and the area has been cordoned off by local police and law enforcement to facilitate firefighting operations.

Since 12:00 the Fire Brigade of the Caserta Provincial Command has been busy putting out a large fire that broke out inside a shed of a building material company located in Viale Europa in the municipality of Aversa. A large column of black smoke, also visible from the city of Naples, invaded the entire surrounding area, causing much inconvenience to the resident population. To put out the fire and contain the flames which also affected two apartments in the immediate vicinity of the depot, six teams are working: two from the Command headquarters, one from the Aversa detachment, one from the Marcianise detachment and three from from the commands of Benevento, Naples and Avellino. Three tankers from the Caserta command and a tanker from the Benevento command, a ladder truck from the Avellino command, a car protector and also an airport vehicle from the Salerno command also intervened in support. The provincial commander, Engineer Paolo Massimi, was also brought to the site to coordinate the firefighting operations. Investigations are also underway to establish the causes of the fire by the Judicial Police Command unit. No people were reported injured in the fire and extinguishing operations are still underway.
