The exhibition opens on Saturday 22 June at 6pm Giovanni Spinazzola, Suspended views curated by Rino Cardone, organized by the Opera Arte e Arti Gallery in collaboration with Ego Italiano Srl

On the occasion, the new exhibition space curated by Opera Arte e Arti will also be presented.

Church of S. Eligio Artistic Labwhich will be a new reality dedicated to the promotion of cultural events.

“On display, finally in Matera, the “metropolitan pictograms” of the talented Lucanian artist, trained at the Brera Academy (Milan) under the guidance of the Masters Saverio Terruso, Lidia Silvestri, Giancarlo Marchese and Natale Addamiano, who exhibits with 14 great works of his latest interesting artistic production.

Giovanni Spinazzola has always been attentive to “social” and “collective” issues. In his paintings (with bright, warm and decisive chromatic tones) he is accustomed to dealing with the contexts of a society in “continuous becoming” and in “perpetual movement”. The event granted by the Diocesan Institute for the support of the Clergy of the Archdiocese of Matera-Irsina, was sponsored by the Basilicata Region, the Province of Matera, the Municipality of Matera, the Municipality of Ferrandina and the Tourist Promotion Company ( APT) of Basilicata.

Speakers will include: the representatives of the Sponsoring Bodies, Enrico Filippucci (organizer), the art critic Rino Cardone (curator) and the artist will be present. The exhibition will be open to visitors until 13 July 2024.

The organizers and the artist will be available for interviews and insights starting from 5.30 pm.

BIOGRAPHY

Giovanni Spinazzola was born in Ferrandina (Matera) in 1972. He graduated fromBrera Academy of Fine Arts (Milan) coming into contact with great masters such as Saverio Terruso, Lidia Silvestri, Giancarlo Marchese and Natale Addamiano.

Between the years 1991-1997 he collaborated with the author’s printing house “The Spiral” of Milan where he learned lithographic, xylographic, silk-screen and intaglio techniques in general, printing for artists such as: Ennio Morlotti, Giancarlo Cazzaniga, Franco Rognoni, Floriano Bodini, etc.

From 2003 to 2009 he worked as a designer of upholstered furniture for the companies Nicoletti and EgoItaliano. Since 2017 he has been working in the school sector as an art teacher.

His pictorial cycles first move from a figurative realism, describing passers-by and their stories, to then arrive at an urban landscape, remaining an inexorable observer of reality.
