The World Refugee Day event in Foligno will be held on Thursday 20 June in the Zut space in Corso Cavour. , Cidis Impresa Sociale Ets and Fondazione Arca del Mediterraneo Ets.

We start at 6pm with Luca Giommoni, writer and hospitality worker, and his “The Red and the Blue. A common migration tale” (Effequ Edizioni, 2021): award-winning novel that tells the stories, regulations and challenges of those seeking refuge in Italy with realism and without disenchantment. We continue with the debate “DO YOU KNOW enough? Talk and numbers of the SAI project” with the operators of the project, financed by the Ministry of the Interior, which saw Foligno achieve notable results in terms of integration. The evening will end with “DO YOU KNOW the rhythm?”: DJ set with music from the world with vinyls by DJ Oskee and H. Dee Maturana and a buffet for everyone under the Loggias. The event is free and open to interested parties while places last.

World Refugee Day was established by the United Nations in 2001 to commemorate the approval of the 1951 Refugee Convention and to raise public awareness of the challenges still associated with those who enjoy this status. According to United Nations data, there are over 114 million people fleeing war, persecution and violence globally, at least 1 person in every 73 (UNHCR data). According to the latest Istat data, there are 3,199 asylum requests in Umbria, equal to 0.36% of the population.
