TARANTO – Pnrr funding for municipal nursery schools, the Democratic Party asks for the resignation of councilor Petrosillo. What the Journal he replies: «We didn’t have the requirements to participate in that call».
In a press note, the Democratic Party (now in opposition to the Melucci council) underlines that the effectiveness of the choices of the members of a government team and the achievement of the objectives «are clearly a sign of their adequacy with respect to the role they play. Consequently, the failure of the Municipality of Taranto to participate in the second tender prepared by the ministry for early childhood services says a lot about the councilor to whom the delegation is entrusted”, say the Dems. Who for this reason undoubtedly ask some, ask for the resignation of Désirée Petrosillo. And this also in consideration of the fact that «it is an absolutely indispensable sector for the growth of society. After all, an Administration that doesn’t take care of children doesn’t look at and doesn’t invest in the future.” For the Democratic Party, in fact, it is unacceptable to have missed an opportunity such as that represented by the resources of the Pnrr, equal to more than 5 million euros, which would have allowed Taranto to reach the objective indicated by the Europe of 33 percent of the coverage of early childhood services. Finally, for the Dems, this story is further confirmation of the betrayal of the electoral program of the 2022 administrative elections presented by Rinaldo Melucci, at the time the mayoral candidate of a centre-left party led by the Democratic Party.
So far, the vibrant thrust of the main opposition party which, to tell the truth, follows the one already launched by the M5s. Furthermore, it all started from an intuition of Fabio Ligonzo, company secretary of CISL FP who had sounded the alarm.
For its part, contacted by Journal, the councilor for educational services states: «The Municipality of Taranto did not have the requirements to participate in the tender, from a structural and logistical point of view. And this was clarified at the end of a technical table – explains Desirèe Petrosillo – convened by me and attended by the manager of the Public Works sector and the officials of the Heritage and Educational Services departments”.
Council member Melucci also recalls that the Municipality of Taranto, two years ago, obtained funding from the Pnrr for the redevelopment of kindergartens. «Currently, restyling interventions are underway on three existing structures. These are – recalls the councilor for educational services – the “Monaco” school building (in Talsano) and the “Pastore” school building (in the Paolo VI district)”. In particular, again according to the councillor, these works will guarantee, once completed obviously, up to 120 new places for children between 0 and 3 years. But not only. «Within next year, another structure will be built in the new market area of the Paolo VI district, thanks to Pinqua funding (National Innovative Program for the Quality of Living, ed.) with Pnrr funds, thus bringing – concludes Petrosillo – to 180 the new places available”. And finally: «These kindergartens will become operational by 2025, but there is a good chance that the “Pastor” could be completed by the end of this year».
