This season it was a Cesena that achieved results and… kilometres. If the Bianconeri dominated the championship with a lot of beer on their legs it was also thanks to Andrea Noceraathletic trainer that Mister Toscano wanted to bring with him to Catania.
44 year old Sicilian from San Cataldo (Caltanissetta), Nocera graduated in 2004 in Sports Science at the University of Catania and in 2006 I obtained the diploma of Professional Athletic Trainer. After about 10 years in the youth sector and football school in the teams of his country in Sicily, he started as a physical trainer in Valguarnera in Promotion for 2 seasons, and then from there continued in all the amateur categories: Excellence with Nissa, Sancataldese and Campofranco , Serie D with Modica, Budoni and Hinterreggio. He subsequently moved to Crotone’s Primavera team and in January 2012 took over in the first team under Massimo Drago, following him to Cesena. Then, here are the experiences with Mimmo Toscano at Reggina and again at Cesena.
It was no coincidence that, during last summer’s training, Cesena defender Luigi Silvestri recognized that he had never struggled so much, not being used to the workloads that Nocera subjected the team to. A truly robust preparation with obvious benefits on an athletic level for the people of Romagna. It was a Cesena with a lot of running on the pitch without being overwhelmed athletically by the opponents and, equally important, proving throughout the season very few muscular injuries. Perhaps in the initial stages of the championship the muscles damaged by too much work suffered a little but, in the long term, the training strategy proved to be very successful and fully effective.
Running and intensity will be two fundamental concepts that will also be proposed in Catania. The work to be done right from the start of the pre-season retreat will be very tough. Nocera and the new Rossazzurro technical staff will really make Catania work hard, laying the foundations for a very challenging year which will hopefully be a harbinger of joy and satisfaction.
