Drug dealing in Padua, the police arrests an unaccompanied foreign minor.
Of declared Tunisian nationality, the young man in handcuffs appears to have arrived on the Trapani coasts at the beginning of this year. Placed in a reception facility in Trapani, he left in a very short time, thus making us lose track of him.
He was tracked down again in the province of Padua, in Selvazzano, last May, being caught with just a few grams of hashish and then entrusted to social services and through them to a reception community for minors.
On the afternoon of Tuesday 18 June, the Flying Squad policemen identified him in via Ceron, in a green area. A 57-year-old approached the minor who had shortly before hidden something in a bush and then remained waiting sitting on a bench.
The officers intervened, the 17-year-old dropped some empty packages to the ground, while he had 340 euros in his trouser pocket.
In the bush, the policemen recovered well 20 doses of cocaine, for about 15 grams. The buyer in turn admitted that he had reached the park to buy cocaine from the young man, as he had already done on at least five other occasions in the last 10 days.
After being arrested and taken to the police station, the minor was placed in the Treviso First Reception Centre.
Since the beginning of the year, 45 minor offenders have already been identified by the policemostly involved in drug dealing: 20 are unaccompanied foreign minors, another 16 second generation foreigners.
Of greater concern – explain the Padua Police Headquarters – is the data linked not only to theincrease in the number of children involved compared to the same period of the previous year (already more than double the total), but above all the number of under-14 year olds13 compared to only 2 in the same period of the previous year.
