La Marca Classica, Rovigo Corse with five points

Rovigo, 18 June 2024 – Rovigo Corse’s journey in the Italian Historic Car Regularity Championship continues unabated with an almost home event on the horizon.
The Marca Classica, scheduled between Saturday and Sunday, will see the usual trident flying the Rovigo flag take to the field, to which will be added two additions to keep an eye on.
The spotlight was obviously on Maurizio and Pietro Indelicato, at the start with the Autobianchi A112 Elegant, second overall and leading both the RC4 and the class up to one thousand six.
“We are at the seventh of the tricolor” – says Maurizio Indelicato – “and it will be another unprecedented race for us. We will try to confirm in Treviso the good things done in the last races, bringing precious points to our cause and that of a Rovigo Corse which is growing strongly this year.”
The streets of the Treviso area could give an edge to president Diego Verza, once again supported by Sandro Buranello but with the unknown factor of a car change at the last minute.
The owner of the Polesine team will take to the field with a Volkswagen Polo, hunting for important points to improve the current third place in RC5 and in class up to a thousand and six.
“We have won the overall in the modern championship a couple of times here” – says Verza (president of Rovigo Corse) – “and, even if we change the car, we shouldn’t have any major problems. The Marca Classica is almost a home race for us so we aim to give that something extra to Treviso.”
Back to the origins for Alessandro Timacchi, back at the wheel of the Fiat 127 Sport with Boris Santin, determined to continue on the path of progress traced in his latest appearances.
The driver from Occhiobello will start from seventh place in RC5 and fifth in the millesei class.
“We will try to improve our average” – says Timacchi – “which, little by little, is decreasing. It’s tough among so many champions but we will do our best to do well.”
To increase the forces on the field for the team from Rovigo there will also be Angelo Monachella, paired with Stefano Galuppi on a Fiat 127, and Adolfo Sandri, flanked by Luca De Stefani on a SAAB 96, important players in moving up the team rankings.
Giving an extra boost to ambitions was a weekend that established Verza as one of the leading drivers on the national scene, fresh from two high-profile performances.
Last Saturday, at the Coppa del Santerno in Imola, the president achieved the overall victory, paired with Andrea Caranti in the Autobianchi A112 Elegant usually used by Indelicato, and then narrowly missed out on an encore on Sunday, at the Trofeo Terre di Pianura.
From Minerbio came a second overall which, for just six hundredths gained due to an error, could have turned into a splendid double.
