Giulia Randi from Reggio Emilia becomes Italian vertical speed climbing champion and now dreams of the Paris Olympics. An even better success because it was achieved at home, in front of the public at the “Just Climb!” center. of Reggio, in the Campovolo area, one of the most cutting-edge structures in Europe. The young Army member won in the final with a time of 7’25“, beating Alessia Lugli (Equilibrium Soc coop), while in the final for third place Sara Strocchi (Istrice Ravenna) won bronze, beating Agnese Fiorio (Arco Climbing). Giulia thus finally conquers the tricolor title that was still missing from her rich palmares. “It’s very nice, because it’s the first year that I’ve won the Italian Championship – her first words – it was exciting. For the Olympic Qualifications in Budapest I feel pretty good, I hope to do some good times.”

In fact, we are on the threshold of a crucial event for our Italian Olympic team: the Olympic Qualifier Series in Budapest (20-23 June), where our athletes will give everything to win a ticket to Paris 2024.

Joy also for the athlete from Modena Daniele Balestrazzi (member of the Equilibrium club) who won the title of national men’s champion again in the ‘speed’ specialty, getting the better of the favorite Matteo Zurloni (Fiamme Oro) in the final, after having eliminated in the quarterfinals the other ‘big’ Ludovico Fossali (Army). Balestrazzi, former Italian champion under 14 and then under 18, celebrates: “I’m very happy, I didn’t expect it, it was a beautiful race. This is my wall and maybe I started with a bit of an advantage. I will continue to train and aim up”.
