REGGIO EMILIA – Lots of satisfactions on the Emilian rings for the boys of Reggiana Boxing Olmedo in recent days. Master Michael Galli accompanied some young lions to the rings of Modena and the lower areas, in boxing matches valid for the federal ranking of amateur agonists. Among them also a new entry. Davide Martelli, a boxer from outside the province who has chosen the Olmedo club as his new home, is only 20 years old but already has around forty matches under his belt. A tough boxer, who always goes against the opponent without pure. And on this occasion he was tested against an opponent who had recently defeated him at the regional championships. Martelli, who fights in the 71 kg category, after suffering a fortuitous blow in the first round that made him count, recalibrated the action by starting to place excellent shots to the torso especially with the left hook. The match ended in a draw.
In Boretto, however, four other Granata athletes entered the ring. The departure fell to Shevchuk Kristian, 67 kg junior, against a boy from Bologna who was two years older and physically superior to him. But the very young lion was not intimidated, continuing to work on defense and counterattack: won on points. Then it was the expert’s turn Giuseppe Usai, 67 kg elite, show off the Reggio Emilia school of boxing. Usai also worked entirely in attack on the trunk, leaving no room for interpretations. Large victory on points. The baby lioness Anna Mazzieri (70 kg junior), a true promise from president Emiliano Martinelli’s team, faced a difficult rematch against a champion from Ferrara. A very balanced match that ended in a draw. Finally another equal, this time snatched by Matteo Sciaboni, 70 kg elite, who after a difficult first round switched into gear and won the rest of the match. The judges decided to reward both boxers.
