Mattia Finotto, cover man of the Carrarese promotion, tells his story to our microphones
“I have never received so many calls and messages”. Mattia Finotto’s phone doesn’t stop ringing. The Carrarese striker spoke about himself to LaCasadiC, touching every key of the last 6 dream months. Finotto and Carrara, a love that blossomed right away: “I arrived on February 3rd and I immediately managed to build a good relationship with the city of Carrara, I didn’t expect it. I have always been appreciated in the clubs I played for, clearly the goals helped.”
“In Carrara I often go to the seaside with my daughter and my little girl”. Here is the family, an essential ingredient in Mattia’s life, who has never lacked support: “In the last two years I have changed four teams, it wasn’t easy and I have to thank them, they have always been close to me. It’s not easy to turn your life upside down every time, it’s also hard for her to create new friendships, open and close packages. Luckily, we had a great time in Carrara straight away”.
Clearly, then, a tactical position is needed. Antonio Calabro took care of that: “The coach wanted a striker who was good at attacking depth and with good legs. I’m quite flexible, the fundamental thing is that the coach knows what my characteristics are. What he asked me to do suited my characteristics best and it showed”.

The Cesena crossroads and the art of always believing in it
In every season there is always a moment in which you realize that something important will happen, Mattia has it and remembers it well: “I choose victory against Cesena. After that match something happened. When you beat the first in the rankings in a great match you remove all doubts and realize your strength. They had never lost, from that moment we realized we were strong. We could have beaten anyone, in fact we never lost again.”
Ordinary or extraordinary, the key to the class of ’92 is only one: “Surely you should never stop dreaming, I’ve always believed it. You don’t always win but you always have to believe in it. Even in the next season I will believe and dream. I know Serie B, they will have to fight to save themselves. All the teams, apart from 4/5, say that the first objective is to maintain the category. Having an excellent season will be the goal.”
