How different is the life of a family whose parents are not mom and dad, but dad and dad? Are there any differences then? And what does family mean today?

These are the questions that the renowned Swiss director Daniela Ambrosoli goes to investigate “Papa&Dada” which features four same-parent families filmed over several years: John & John, Mimmo & Christina, Brian & Ferd and Tim & Josh. The couples shared intimate aspects of their daily lives. And what is their typical day like? At the end of the day, it’s just like any conventional family, with mom, dad and child. They eat together, go on trips out of town, dads help the children brush their teeth and tell bedtime stories.

The common thread that runs through the 90 minutes of this documentary can be summed up in one word: love. The film documents not only the love the partners have for each other, but also the love they show towards their children. A love completely independent of the sexual orientation of the parents. Or, as Christian & Mimmo say «Being parents means giving love. Point”.

The screening of the documentary is part of the events on the occasion of Varese Pride Month 2024, with the patronage of the Municipality of Varese. In the room there will be the councilor for Educational Services of the Municipality of Varese Rossella Di Maggio, the representatives of the LGBT+ associations in the area and two fathers – Mimmo and Christian – who participated in the making of the film. It will also be possible to sign the petition promoted by the Luca Coscioni Association to bring to Parliament the discussion of the solidarity pregnancy for others bill filed in the chamber.
