Reggio, Massari’s proclamation late

June 18, 2024 at 10:20 am

The proclamation of the new mayor and the new city council of Reggio Emilia continues to be delayed. Now ten days after the vote, the Central Office appointed by the President of the Court called to formalize the results – so far only unofficial – of the vote on 8 and 9 June, has not yet expressed its opinion. A delay that was not recorded in the other Emilia-Romagna provincial capitals voting in this round such as Modena, Ferrara and Forlì: in all three cities, the official proclamation was already reached last Wednesday 12 June.

Not bad for Marco Massari, whose election given the wide margin is certainly not in question, who indeed has everything to gain from this slowness. The law, in fact, provides that the mayor must convene the first municipal council within ten days of the proclamation, which must be held within the following ten days, and then present the council. The later the proclamation, therefore, the more time the new mayor of Reggio has to form his team, taking into account the broad coalition that supported him and the preferences obtained by the councilor candidates.
