It was not easy for all Monza residents to participate in the European elections: at the Munari primary school in via Marche on Saturday 8th and Sunday 9th several elderly citizens or those with mobility problems they encountered an unexpected and almost insurmountable obstacle.
To reach the polling stations set up on the first floor they had to walk up the two flights of stairs as the lift was out of service: «One section was moved to the canteen – he stated on Thursday 13th in the city council Sergio Visconti of Monzattiva – but not all voters with walking problems were able to vote there. The lift has been broken for a few months: when will it be fixed?».

That, he added, it’s not the school’s only flaw: a class is forced to move to the library or other rooms every time it rains heavily as water infiltrations make the classroom unusable.

By September, assured the councilor for public works Marco Lamperti, both flaws will be fixed: «We have already attended the class six times – has explained – However, we have not been able to carry out decisive work as it has rained almost continuously in the last two months. To do this we have to wait for the walls to dry: let’s hope for a drier summer». Weather permitting, he added, workers should repair the damage in July.
Between the end of June and the beginning of July, he continued, the elevator should also be fixed: «We did an inspection in April – Lamperti specified – the fault is not trivial as the rodents have ruined the electrical board and the control panel» provoking a breakdown worth around 15,000 euros.
The mice have since been eliminated with a disinfestation and the offices commissioned the company to carry out the maintenance.
